MARTINA´S WORKSHOP for FaVU

2014, graduation project at FaVU, Brno, Czech Republic

6 workshops, installation, original video: 46:27 min, audio: 26:18, two laptops

In my graduation project, I was investigating importance of crafts in art and art education. By establishing a workshop for students at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, I was evolving artist's exchange and the community. I organized a series of workshops oriented on techniques that I learnt during my four year studies at the university. My aim was to approach art from the other side of creating. I invited my schoolmates and students at the university to attend a class where I shared my knowledge and skills and provided them with a space to work.

Workshops were organized every two weeks and students were invited through crafted posters. Studio was accesible for students to work on their projects after the workshop during the whole semester and I provided them with consultations and help with assembling of their work.

Topics of workshops:

  • pattern making,
  • sewing
  • plaster casting
  • porcelain casting
  • woodcut and installation
  • ceramics in a natural pit
