Good Luck Charms

2012

Museum of Romani Culture, Brno, Czech Republic

Limited edition of unique objects which was made to bring their owners luck. I organized a workshop for Romani children with an intention to create their personal amulets with them. Participating kids were supposed to bring objects personally close to them and especially chosen for making the amulets. They created a story and a title for each of them. Than I collected the amulets and I moulded them. I created a series of anonymous lukopren casts of amulets. After this, I organized an opening for the kids and also I distributed these magical amulets in design and gallery shops in Brno. It had names given by the kids. So anyone could buy a personal amulet, designed lucky talisman. A piece of magical and immeasurable. Something, what was pushed out of perception by the pragmatic society of today. Just some kind of mystery hidden in the the object. It´s on us to accept that fact and believe in the power of talismans.
